Most people know that having a massage feels great, and that is why they pay for it, but there are some actual benefits that can change your physical and mental wellbeing. First of all it obviously helps to relax the body and mind. This in itself can help with things like anxiety, depression, stess and any other negative emotions. If you need to make some serious decisions in your life, this is a great way of clearing your mind of all the “noise”.

But what about the physical?

On a physical level a good relaxing massage can help to get your blood flowing and increase circulation, which helps to get more oxygen to your cells, which in turn can help to heal cells, create new cells and also helps to keep cells alive. Good blood circulation also helps to get rid of all the built-up toxins in the body. Toxins can come from the outside (pollution, foods – caffeine, nicotine etc) or from cell processes that creates waste products. In Chinese medicine they will also mention that massaging the body can get rid of stagnation (blockage in energy flow through the system).

Not all people have balance in their body, your one leg may be shorter than the other side or your spine might be twisted, either way, body imbalance causes a lot of strain and overcompensation that could lead to pain and injuries. A good sports massage can help to release contracted muscles fibres to prevent muscle imbalance and injury. Even if you are in perfect balance, you might use your right or left side more, therefore throwing off the balance that exists.

Over all massaging has many benefits. But we add even more benefits by doing massage in your own home. That way you don’t have to travel, save loads of time, and the most important reason of all, you don’t have to come out of that wonderful relaxing trance to get home after a massage since you can literally just walk up the stairs and go to sleep in your own bed.
